Christchurch Overview

In November 2010 ABL expanded its operation, establishing its Christchurch branch.

As a major employer of skilled carpentry tradesmen in the South Island, the directors of ABL saw that the company had a modest, yet important role to play in reconstruction work following the September 2010 earthquake.

We established an office and yard near Lincoln and had already started reinstatement works in Christchurch when the February 2011 quake struck.

Given the unprecedented level of construction demand arising from the two events, we have now made further more long-term commitments to Christchurch.

We’re a proudly South Island owned and operated business with 50 years’ experience across the board – from large hotels, public buildings and multi-storey office complexes to residential homes large and small. We’ve got the skills, the knowledge, and the workforce ready and more than willing to help.

We’ve got experience in disaster recovery works and fast track projects. We also have a team of skilled subcontractors, all of whom are committed to work with us.

Given the magnitude of the job following both earthquakes, and the need to work as quickly and efficiently as possible, we employ both local residents and staff from other areas.

The company owns a small apartment complex at 123 Papanui Road that is consented for staff accommodation and enables us to accommodate additional skilled labour to meet demand.
