Invercargill Police Station
This project included the construction of two new Blocks to the (East and West) end of an existing building and the complete refurbishment of the existing interior and exterior.
The station was “fully operational” throughout the construction period (ie 24 hours, seven days a week) and this required a full “team” (clients, consultants, subcontractors and Amalgamated Builders (2001) Ltd) approach to the day to day running of the Police Station and Construction Site.
A composite alloy and polyethylene panel prefinished in the factory to New Zealand Police Blue was used as the Exterior Cladding to the East and West end additions. This along with the use of Sun Shade Louvres on the North wall are just some of the innovative ideas used on this contract.
Amalgamated Builders (2001) Ltd worked out a programme that encompassed the New Zealand Police staging requirement as well as being able to meet construction sequencing needs.
