  • Stage one completed quickly to allow the school to open in time for the start of Term 1.
  • Achieved a 5-Star rating from New Zealand Green Building Council

Shotover Primary school is part of the Wakatipu Basin Community of Learning, which involves all eight schools in the Queenstown area working together to raise student achievement. The area is a very new, quickly growing region in what was at the time of construction, a relatively remote area.

The project includes 3,500m² of buildings in addition to outdoor learning areas and external works, including hard & soft landscaping and car parks. During the build, the scope of the project increased to include a shared sporting facility with the Queenstown Lakes District Council.

The school has achieved a design 5-star rating from the New Zealand Green Building Council for its use of modern technologies. These include underfloor heating, natural ventilation and sunlight and C02, energy and water use monitoring that students can see and learn from.

Internally, the acoustics, lighting, technology, heating and air quality are of a high standard to help students concentrate on learning.
